EXPLORE CLEAR LAKE
A living lake
with a long memory.
Nature, local essentials and a few good reasons to leave the dock.
BEFORE WATER ACTIVITIES
Check the lake each day.
Clear Lake is California’s largest natural freshwater lake entirely within the state. It is broad, shallow and productive, with conditions that shift with weather, season and water level. Warm periods may bring harmful algal blooms.
Review current Lake County and California public-health guidance before swimming, paddling or allowing pets near the water. Fishing, shoreline time and wildlife watching may still fit the day depending on conditions, access and advisories—but no activity or wildlife sighting is guaranteed.
Expect a real outdoor environment: insects, webs, leaves, bird activity and changing weather belong here too.
